What about alpha and beta diversity of sandy seabeds of the Canary archipelago?. A mosaic sandy seabeds is present in the Canary Islands (Cymodocea nodosa meadows, Caulerpa spp meadows, eel grass, maerl, sabellid fields and unvegetated substrates) and thus a variety of different macroinfaunal assemblages are reported. Cymodocea and Caulerpa meadows, as well as, Sabellids fields harbour more diverse communities than non-vegetated seabeds. Moreover, a latitudinal gradient can be observed in the Canary archipelago, from eastern to western islands. Project about octopus paralarvae almost finished!. The research projectUse of alternative preys as food for octopus paralarvae" finished this month. In short, the best growth rate and viability of octopus paralarvae was obtained with eggs of the crab Grapsus adscensionis. The remaining used preys (Plesionika eggs, Palaemon elegans eggs and mysids) showed high mortalities in the first days. These results will be published soon in SCI journals, we´ll keep you informed!!.
